I'm glad to see he cut his 5 week vacation short to tend to the hurricane victims.
Where's the legislation regarding gay marriage? What happened to the abortion issue? Here it is, Thursday and here he is just now sending 1400 reservists per day to the Gulf area to help restore order? I'm like the "refugees"....where is the effin relief? Where is the water? Where is the food? Some people think looting is wrong. Some people think stealing is wrong. Under any "normal" conditions, it is but... Why is it that the media only shows black folks in dire straits? When they do show the white folk, it's always in a more serene setting (a clean, quiet shelter, a restaurant, in front of their water-damaged bed and breakfast on the coast). You can't even imagine what you would you do if you were in their position. Picture this. You have not eaten in 4 or five days. No water or anything to drink during that time. Dead bodies litter the street. People literally die while they sit next to you. Your wife...your child...your children are starving. Baby crying for 2 or 3 days straight. Your hubby or wife doubled over with hunger pain like he/she have never felt before. You have lost everything. EVERYTHING! People have the nerve to ask "why are they shooting at the helicopters?" "Why are they looting?" Sh%t! Let me be in the position where I'm living in squalor and some effin helicopter is flying around taking pictures of me and not even dropping a bottle of water down to help me out. It's easy to sit in your living room and say "well the helicopters are flying in to get the sick and elderly out first". In THAT frame of mind (starving/dehydrated) I'm thinking "WHAT MAKES THEIR LIVES MORE IMPORTANT THAN MINE?!" I think I'd be shootin some sh&t up too. For those of you that think people are trippin 'cause some of us think if this had been suburbia, aid would have been flowing in as early as Monday night.....not freekin Thursday afternoon, I say look at the obvious. Bush didn't cut his vacation short on Monday afternoon (after the hurricane hit). Congress took 3 days to reconvene to pass the emergency relief funding bill while it took them a few HOURS to reconvene to pass some legislation to allow the state of Florida to remove the feeding tube from the brain dead chic.
Some people think that we use race as a crutch or a flimsy excuse every time sh&t doesn't go our way but I here to tell you....until you get followed around in any upscale department store...get pulled over by the po po just because you are driving a fancy ride in the "wrong" neighborhood.....get shown to the "less expensive" side of the car lot on the assumption that you can't afford the full optioned cars....get sucked into a mindless conversation about last night's basketball game because your white co-worker is uncomfortable with the erie silence around the coffee maker.... or the end all be all.....you get asked "do black people get sun-burned", don't talk to me about a crutch! Sh&t is eeffed up when you are black in America. Things HAVE improved but we still have a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong way to go.
